About the research project

What If is a series of research projects that Side-Show carries out alongside other productions. In a number of short projects reminds you of an alchemical lab, early artistic ideas are developed and refined. There is only one rule: the outcome of the project must not be predictable. By giving time and space to new ideas in this way, an unpredictable future is created.

And that is the core of the project: the labs provide an unlikely outcome and nurture existing or new collaborations.

At the end of the What if project, insights and material that have not yet grown into a concrete form are shared with an audience.

About the company

A shared fascination for the traces that movements leave behind is the basis of Compagnie Side-Show, which was founded in 2009 by Aline Breucker and Quintijn Ketels. The cross-pollination between circus and the company’s visual arts leads to unique performances.
