About the performance
In EXIT, four artists move through a large, impressive installation with a revolving wall and floating doors. They arrive and leave again, they appear and disappear continuously. This performance shows their encounters when they walk the same path.
EXIT is an exciting, impressive, and physical circus and dance performance where movement, partner acrobatics and balance board merge.
This project was supported by the outdoor circus network, CIRC’UIT. Of which Miramiro is the proud partner.
About the company
Piet Van Dycke graduated in 2018 as a choreographer from the Fontys School of the Arts in Tilburg. Since then he has worked as a dance and circus maker, performer, coach and teacher at various art organizations. He has been active for several years at dOFt, fABULEUS, Cie Woest, TeaTime Company and LAP.
For the next 3 years he will work under PLAN, a development platform in Brabant (NL). He won the Jacques de Leeuw prize in 2018, was chosen as ‘most promising maker’ by reviewers Wendy Lubberding and Annette Embrechts in both 2019 and 2020 and won the BNG Bank Dansprijs 2021. Van Dycke’s work is characterized by the amalgamation of dance and circus, resulting in wordless circus/dance performances, for young and old.
Piet Van Dycke draws in his work from both contemporary circus and dance. This results in playful performances that stand out because of their original use of space, objects and bodies. He tackles his themes through the interaction between movement and acrobatics, creating images that energetically fold into different folds.
