About the Performance

Today draws inspiration from the happening genre of the 1960s. It can be seen as an orchestrated version of life: a collage of various actions, pre-described but not rehearsed, that unfold before the audience’s eyes. This strict structure of simple actions paradoxically allows for ample room for spontaneity and the unexpected. Using art to structure life into more or less predictable actions, and thus learning to cope with the unexpected, is exactly what Side-Show finds appealing in this art form. In the happening, we see a way to structure our environment so that we can be together with a diverse audience and create a meaningful shared experience.
