ROOM
Home is where the heart lies. But what happens when no one is watching?
Do you dance alone in the kitchen, sing off-key in front of the mirror, or sit motionless for hours on the edge of your bed, frozen by the overwhelming world around you?
Maybe you simply lie face down on the carpet, listening to the hum of the refrigerator.
Home is a place where no one sees you — a sheltered space, protected from the eyes of the world. What happens behind closed doors, and what quietly begins to surface?

ROOM is a solo performance that reveals the hidden interplay between vulnerability and freedom when you are alone in a room. You peer into a space that is both intimate and familiar, watching the everyday unfold into something universal.
Through parkour, slapstick, domino effects and playful scenography, ROOM explores the tension between chaos and structure. The body of performer Matt McCreary enters into dialogue with chairs, tables and lamps that shift from set pieces into active partners on stage.

ROOM is particularly suited for families and young audiences. As children, we learn to move within the structures that organize our lives — but what happens when we playfully break them open?

ROOM explores who we are when no one is watching and how each of us occupies space in our own unique way. It is a journey through daily rhythms, rituals and emotions — sleeping, eating, warmth, love — where movement and scenography make these universal feelings tangible.

Matt McCreary
Born and raised in Northern Ireland, Matt spent ten years traveling from city to city across Europe, developing his parkour skills and distinctive movement language. He combines dance, theatre and visual storytelling in an energetic and immersive way, while also inspiring a global audience with more than 500,000 followers on Instagram.
