About the performance

Labo van de tederheid is a contemporary movement/circus performance in which we push the limits in participation. In it, the spectator literally becomes the “manipulated object” in the hands of the artists. It is a visual and sensory experience that takes the spectator into new abstracted rituals that exude tenderness.

We work with canvases. We sought a hybrid of experiential theater with circus.
In Labo van de tederheid, the spectator undergoes rituals that simulate a life cycle. The body is wrapped, carried, rocked, manipulated … But not only that: words are whispered, smells allow synapses to communicate, sight is taken away one moment and extra stimulated the next. Taste is illusorily surprised by sight and non-associative smells.

About the company

The Studio Eclipse company was founded in 2010 and creates movement performances in specific locations inside and outside the theater walls, where environmental elements are an important source of inspiration.
The combination and collaboration with other disciplines takes the performances to another level.

Studio Eclipse was subsidized by the Flemish Government (circus decreet) for the creation of the performances ‘Two Sink, Three Float’ in 2010, ‘Fallen Thoughts’ in 2012, ‘Trapped Inside’ in 2014-2015 and the creation ‘Labo van de tederheid’ in 2025.

Studio Eclipse is a contemporary Flemish circus company that spreads its idiosyncratic visual, surreal and physical performances nationally and internationally (art – dance – circus and street theater festivals in Belgium, France, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Australia, South Korea, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Poland, Lithuania, Ireland and Germany).

The work balances on the dividing line of circus and dance in extreme conditions. For example, at Two Sink, circus performers moved tree float in public waters from 12° Celsius around the world. Or circus techniques such as Aerial Contra Weight and Aerial Bungee were transformed into a visual, dance and theatrical performance at Fallen Thoughts. But less exhausting performances were also created such as Trapped Inside and Veni Vidi Venus.
